Beveled Glass Star Spinner Sculpture
This beveled glass star spinner by Glass on Hudson explores the interaction of movement, light, and geometric form. Suspended in a window or open space, the sculpture gently rotates, allowing its beveled surfaces and suspended prisms to catch and refract light throughout the day.
- Light and Movement
As the piece turns, beveled glass facets and suspended prisms interact with surrounding light, casting subtle reflections and shifting highlights across nearby surfaces. The gentle motion introduces a quiet rhythm, allowing the sculpture to continually change with its environment.
- Architectural Form
The star is constructed through precise geometric structure, emphasizing clean lines and balanced proportions. Rather than relying only on light effects, the design highlights the architectural presence of the form itself. Even in softer light, the silhouette of the star remains strong and defined.
- Black Patina Finish
The solder lines are finished with a rich black patina that reinforces the geometry of the star and its architectural silhouette. This dark finish contrasts with the luminous beveled glass, creating a refined balance between shadow and reflection. Subtle copper tones may appear within the patina, adding warmth and sophistication to the overall finish.
- Experience
As light changes throughout the day, the sculpture reveals different qualities. In bright sunlight the prisms create delicate rainbow reflections. In softer interior light, the dark patina emphasizes the structure of the star, allowing its silhouette and form to become the visual focus.
